Basically, magnet links is just an easier way to download torrents as supposed to .torrent files. IMO, I see no major difference besides fewer clicks to download.

I'm not sure what the trigger is, but even with active torrents < 15 it's produces the windows 'application not responding' dialogue box and Download did seem faster, although that could be due to any number of factors.
